late summer dinner outfit

Hello hello!

I shot this look several weeks ago and keep forgetting to share it! I feel like most people don't really need these types of outfits right now (I have been avoiding eating out as much as possible because it honestly doesn't feel that safe in Tennessee), but I still love styling outfits for one day when it's safe to be normal again! I feel like my daily look consists of athletic shorts and an oversized college shirt, so I think I gotta reconfigure my lazy and casual style (I just cannot dress nicely when I'm not leaving my house haha!)

Black and white is such a pretty combo and makes the other color pop. If you have a smaller wardrobe or capsule wardrobe, you should consider having at least one nice black top and a pair of white jeans. Both go with a variety of other pieces so you can get a lot of wear out of both!

This flirty black and white outfit is perfect for a dinner, going out, or a socially-distant gathering. I think white jeans are the perfect base for any summer outfit. They can be dressed up or down. I used to hate how white jeanslooked on me, but I love the Toothpick jeans from J.Crew and any white jean from Gap. Right now I hover between a 6-8 in both pairs,so sizing just depends on the style. I also suggest getting a higher waisted pair than these (I think high waist is super flattering!) and select an ankle length option if you are on the shorter end (I'm 5'3).

The black blouse in this look is sadly sold out (that's what I get for ordering it back in May and not posting it until the end of July!), but I got it from DressUp. They have several similar options such as this bodysuit, this one from NastyGal, and this option from ASOS. I love anything with a puff sleeve, so definitely think about adding some sort of puff-sleeve blouse to your wardrobe this summer!

My pom pom clutch is from Promod, which is a French boutique so sadly I can't link it. But I think many clothing boutiques sell adorable clutches such as these, with tassels, pom poms, anything you can think of! I found a cute one with a similar vibe from Lulus. Clutches are so much easier to carry around then a clunky purse sometimes! I also wore some marbled black and white earrings but you can't seem them in the photos! I believe they were also from Promod too.

My scallop wedges are sadly several years old from Red Dress Boutique, but I've linked some similar options. I think scallop detail on wedges adds such a fun and unexpected detail! If you have somewhere to dress up to and want to avoid heels, wedges or espadrilles are the way to go!

  1. I love the style of that blouse on you! And the black and white ensemble is really classic and beautiful. I've only been out on one date with my husband since things began to open up, and we made sure to choose somewhere that was practicing strict social distancing guidelines. We felt really safe, which was nice, but we're not gonna make it a habit any time soon.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment! Yes I've barely gone out to eat. When my family does go, we opt to sit outside or go at times that aren't as busy! We do a lot of take-out though to support local businesses!

  3. I am OBSESSED with the sleeves on that blouse! And I completely agree that my daily outfits have become some combination of graphic tees and yoga pants, so maybe this is exactly the push I need to get a little dressed up this weekend, just for myself.

  4. Such a cute outfit. I'm obsessed with that top! I haven't dressed up in months. I think I'm going to dress up this week just to get out of this quarantine funk!

  6. Love this outfit! I've been having to hone in on my causal style too. I decided that even though I wasn't going to dress up all the way at home, I could at least be a little more cute when I'm casual and it made me feel a bit better haha.

I hope you guys had a fun dinner out!! x
