pom pom festivities

I have had my eye on the pom pom trend for months now (it's definitely more of a summer thing!), but when at the mall a couple weeks ago, I stumbled upon two pom pom items! One being this incredible soft pom pom sweater from Aerie, and the other being these black pom pom hoop earrings (which are a bit hard to see in photos but I can show a close up on Insta stories if y'all are interested). Since I only purchased those two items that night, I felt that they were  meant to be together. Might as well combine a couple pom pom items anyways right?? So here is my little combination of pom poms, a trend I have been waiting to try out but just never found the right pieces.

This sweater is so soft- I can't even describe the material, but it's really fuzzy and really warm, which is so important in these chilly January and February days. I picked up the sweater in a medium, just because I like my sweaters to be a bit long and this one was more cropped than I would prefer. I also cuffed the sleeves since the size was a bit bigger, but it is definitely more of a slouchy look so it worked. The pom poms are so fun too- they make an ordinary sweater so much bubblier!

Close up on the earrings now (my hair blends right in with the pom poms, but I promise they are there!). I have been looking for hoop earrings recently (which I still need suggestions for), and these were too cute not to purchase! I love a good statement earring, and these from Altar'd State were such a steal.

I paired the sweater with these dark indigo jeans and cuffed them at the bottom. These booties are new as well, an absolute bargain from TJ Maxx. They are the brand Espirit and were available in so many sizes, so check out your local TJ Maxx to see if they have these in stock! These booties are some of the most comfortable shoes I own, and I am excited to wear them around campus this semester.

Do all like combining the same trend in one outfit? I think that the tiny pom poms on the earrings tie the pom poms on the sweater together. A subtle combination like this can make a grand fashion statement, so try to mix tassels with tassels, ruffles with ruffles, and patterns with other patterns next time you want to experiment a bit with trends! What trends will you be wearing all season?

As always,
